Glenrowan Solar Farm celebrated the start of full renewable energy production with special guests including Victoria's Minister for Energy and Resources Lily D'Ambrosio and a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony.
Yorta Yorta Elder Damien Saunders performed the moving ceremony at Glenrowan Solar Farm, which is now exporting enough renewable energy to the grid to power the equivalent of 55,000 Australian homes.
We are proud to be developing investing in and managing Glenrowan Solar Farm with sister company UGL, who completed construction of the solar farm in May 2024 and is now responsible for its operation and maintenance.
It was great to welcome Minister D’Ambrosio and acknowledged the key role of the State of Victoria, who selected the project as part of the second Victorian Renewable Energy Target auction (VRET2) to help meet its target of 100 per cent renewable electricity across government operations by 2025.
The operational blessing was attended by a cross-section of local people and partners who have helped us share social, environmental and economic benefits through our community benefit sharing program, which has committed $50,000 a year, for the next 10 years, to the local region.
Our industry partners have also ensured a very positive start to operations, including the Victorian transmission network operator, Ausnet, and the national network operator AEMO.
